If You Want to Know About My Undergrad Life...

Watch this show.

The first season of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman comes to DVD June 7. While much of the Class of '96 watched the advent of Mulder and Scully, I watched an adult Clark Kent who wasn't a nerd.

On the contrary, Clark was portrayed by Princeton football hero and would-be Buffalo Bill Dean Cain, and paired with a Lois given Teri Hatcher's incomparable mix of sweetness and sensuality. At the time, it was Hatcher's biggest success since MacGyver. Who knew another Sunday series lay ahead?

Indeed, Lois & Clark's first season is my favorite because it shows the characters at their quintessential best, from a street-smart Jimmy Olsen (Michael Landes), to a seductively evil Lex Luthor (John Shea), to the still active and caring Kent folks (K Callan and Eddie Jones).

I still remember the one where Superman forgets to fly and gets amnesia while a meteor heads toward Earth... Was that the first season?

Yes. Incidentally, Smallville's version of Clark Kent will lose his memory in next week's episode. The amnesia plot never gets old. Or maybe it does, and audiences forget.

I read the post heading and thought for a second...

then no...

Gerald couldn't be Superman!

In college no less, a place unexplored! It's just farm to city for Clark.

If Superman went to a keger, could he actually get drunk on the alcohol or do his powers make him impervious?

In one of Lois & Clark's early episodes, it was established alcohol didn't affect him. The drunk Superman in Superman III was first a product of kryptonite. It makes sense that kryptonite could make Superman susceptible to any number of things.

In my undergrad life, I never drank enough for a buzz, though I generally avoided drinking--and do today--to keep from from getting carded.
