Torre to Return

At a press conference today, Joe Torre announced he would return as Yankee manager in 2007. I hope this at least means Alex Rodriguez and Gary Sheffield will be moved.

Finally: calmer heads are prevailing in Yankeeland. Sheffield should go, but I think A-Rod will veto just about every attempt to move him. I think Jeter has to try harder to get along with A-Rod, and vice-versa. The current team lacks the great chemistry that the championship teams possessed. They need to get that back. With that said: Let's Go Mets!

I agree. I think it will take time to build. I haven't liked the team as much since the signings of Giambi and Sheffield and the trade for A-Rod.

Chemistry is about having the right mix of stars and role players. The Yanks' stacked playoff lineup showed no such balance. Part of chemistry is not having to work at getting along. Jeter and A-Rod will never like each other.

I don't think the team will win again under Torre. It will take a change in philosophy, a building back of the farm system. The sooner they get to it, the better if you ask me.

Good luck to the Mets.
