USA Network aired The Phantom (1996) before I left for the city yesterday, and I recalled my enjoyment on first seeing it on HBO in '97.Billy Zane as Kit Walker was cheesy, Kristy Swanson as the girl who got away (Where have I heard that before?) was cheeky, and Treat Williams as the villain was over-the-top, but what can I say? It was meant as an escapist period piece, and that's how I took it.
