Declaration of Coexistence

My family emigrated to the United States in late 1974, in part because martial law had been declared in the Philippines. Everyone has nits to pick with the state of the Union. Nothing is run as well as it should be, but the country was founded on noble ideals. Liberty for all doesn't mean one's rights can come at the expense of others' rights. It means everyone's differences deserve equal respect. The United States' greatest virtue is it will always strive toward equal respect.
